Therapy for Actors

Access a deeper relationship with yourself, your craft, and your emotional life.

A Space to Understand the Actor’s Inner World

Acting asks you to inhabit emotion, vulnerability, and identity over and over again. It often requires being seen, evaluated, rejected, and reshaped sometimes all at once. When the work starts to feel heavy, blocked, or overwhelming, it’s rarely just about auditions or confidence. It’s about how much your inner world is being asked to hold.

At Ian Vogt Psychotherapy, therapy for actors offers a space to slow down and listen beneath the pressure to perform. Rather than forcing resilience or “thick skin,” we focus on understanding how your emotional life, history, and sense of self intersect with your craft  so acting can feel grounded, sustainable, and alive rather than exhausting or destabilizing.

Your sensitivity isn’t a weakness. It’s part of the work.

Understanding the Emotional Demands of Acting Is the First Step to Stability

Therapy with me is collaborative, reflective, and grounded in psychodynamic and relational work. Together, we’ll explore how early experiences, attachment patterns, and inner narratives shape your relationship to visibility, rejection, praise, and self-worth — not to pathologize your sensitivity, but to understand it.

Whether you’re navigating audition anxiety, identity confusion, burnout, fear of being seen, or the emotional aftermath of inhabiting intense roles, therapy becomes a place to integrate your experiences rather than carry them alone. My role isn’t to change who you are as an actor, but to help you develop a steadier relationship with yourself — so your craft doesn’t come at the cost of your well-being. When your inner life is supported, your presence onstage and on camera becomes more grounded and authentic.

What we'll work on in therapy:

=

Managing audition anxiety, rejection, and industry pressure

=

Separating self-worth from roles, feedback, and outcomes

=

Working through vulnerability, and exposure

=

Processing emotional residue or demanding roles

=

Balancing creative identity and daily life

=

Building emotional resilience without losing sensitivity or depth

Working In Depth Makes A Difference
