Therapy for Depression
Reconnect with yourself and rediscover what gives life meaning.
A Space to Feel Without Judgment
Depression can make the world feel distant — colors fade, motivation disappears, and even simple tasks can feel heavy. You might find yourself withdrawing, going through the motions, or feeling disconnected from the person you once were. Therapy isn’t about forcing yourself to “feel better.” It’s about creating space to understand what your depression is communicating — the grief, exhaustion, or unmet needs underneath the numbness.
At Ian Vogt Psychotherapy, therapy for depression is an invitation to slow down, make contact with what feels lost, and begin to rebuild a sense of aliveness. Together, we’ll explore the emotional patterns and life experiences that shape how you relate to yourself, others, and the world around you.
Real healing begins with honest understanding and gentle presence.
Understanding Where Depression Comes From Helps You Move Through It
Therapy with me is psychodynamic and relational, meaning we’ll look beyond symptoms to understand what your depression is asking for — rest, recognition, change, or connection. Together, we’ll explore the stories you tell yourself, the expectations you carry, and the emotions you’ve had to hold alone.
Depression often emerges when parts of you have gone unheard for too long. By bringing curiosity and compassion to those places, you can begin to reconnect with feeling, meaning, and possibility. My role isn’t to push you toward positivity, but to help you find a steadier, truer relationship with yourself — one rooted in honesty, self-compassion, and hope.
What we'll work on in therapy:
Understanding the emotional and relational roots of sadness and disconnection
Reconnecting with motivation, purpose, and self-trust
Building awareness of how past experiences shape your mood and self-view
Exploring grief, loss, and self-criticism with compassion
Cultivating inner gentleness and resilience
Creating space for joy, creativity, and connection to return
Working In Depth Makes A Difference
The work is about cultivating a relationship with all parts of yourself – even the ones you avoid – in order to discover a deeper sense of purpose, wholeness, and authenticity. This creates space for profound, lasting transformation.
