Therapy for Grief and Loss
Making space for sorrow, remembrance, and what still connects you to life.
A Space to Hold What Can’t Be Fixed
Grief changes everything. Time moves differently. You may appear to be “functioning,” but inside, things feel hollow or uncertain. Therapy isn’t about “moving on” from loss. It’s about creating a space where you can actually feel what has happened — without judgment, timeline, or expectation.
At Ian Vogt Psychotherapy, therapy for grief and loss offers a place to bring your sorrow, confusion, and love — to begin making sense of what has changed, and to find ways of living that can hold both the pain and the meaning of what remains.
Real healing begins with allowing your heart to grieve fully.
Understanding Grief as a Form of Love
Grief is not a sign of weakness or failure to “let go.” It’s a natural, human response to love — a way of staying connected to what mattered most. Through psychodynamic and relational work, we’ll explore how you hold loss inside you: the memories, guilt, anger, or longing that shape your inner world. In therapy, we’ll move gently through these layers, honoring what’s been lost while making room for what’s still alive in you. My role isn’t to take your pain away, but to help you carry it with greater understanding — so over time, it transforms into something integrated, honest, and life-giving.
What we'll work on in therapy:
Making sense of loss and the emotional waves that follow
Honoring your grief as an expression of love
Exploring the complex feelings of guilt, anger, or relief
Understanding how past losses resurface through new ones
Finding meaning, ritual, and connection after loss
Rebuilding trust in life and the capacity to feel joy again
Working In Depth Makes A Difference
The work is about cultivating a relationship with all parts of yourself – even the ones you avoid – in order to discover a deeper sense of purpose, wholeness, and authenticity. This creates space for profound, lasting transformation.
